Where the Wild Things Soar Fur, Feathers, Footsteps & a Fish or Two
As featured on HGTV and USA Today's 10 Best — the only concierge-level private land tour in Sitka. We handle everything from the moment you step off the ship, including an optional multi-course meal capturing the authentic local experience. No shuttle lines, no stress, no guesswork — just an unforgettable day in the Alaskan wild.
Your personal adventure guide greets you right at the cruise terminal for morning tours, or meets you at a central downtown spot for afternoon tours after you've had time to explore Sitka on your own. We adapt the route to the weather and the abilities of our guests — slowing down where it matters and lingering where the magic is.
In mid-July through August, the highlight of our tour is something no other Sitka operator offers: a guided walk to the banks of the Indian River to witness one of nature's most breathtaking spectacles — thousands of salmon fighting their way upstream in the annual salmon run. The same fish that feed the bears you'll meet at the Fortress, and fuel the eagles soaring overhead at the Raptor Center. It's the moment that ties the whole day's story together.
Sample Itinerary: (Route adapts based on season, weather, and your group's preferences)
*Concierge Pickup — Cruise Terminal or Downtown Sitka Step off your ship and straight into the hands of your personal guide — no confusion, no crowds, no stress.
*Scenic Coastal Highway Tour (10–15 min) Wind along Sitka's coastal road learning about island life, local culture, and landmarks — including a stunning view of Mt. Edgecumbe volcano rising from the sea.
*Downtown Sitka Drive-Through (5–10 min) A quick "get acquainted" pass through the heart of town so you know exactly where to return for solo exploring later.
*Fortress of the Bear — Skip-the-Line, Admission Included (30 min) Meet Sitka's resident brown and black bears — rescued orphans who now call this remarkable sanctuary home — with your own private guide by your side.
*Alaska Raptor Center — Skip-the-Line, Admission Included, Fully Guided (45–60 min) This is where most tours drop you off and walk away. We go deeper. Alaska's foremost bald eagle hospital sits on a stunning 17-acre campus bordering the Tongass National Forest and the Indian River. Your guide leads you through the entire experience — meeting the resident raptors who serve as living ambassadors for their species, watching recovering eagles train in the state-of-the-art flight aviary, and hearing the remarkable rescue story behind every bird.
Then we take the trail. Follow your guide through the lush Tongass rainforest to the banks of the Indian River — learning the stories of the ancient forest along the way. Discover the native plants that have sustained this ecosystem for thousands of years: their medicinal properties, their role in Tlingit culture, and the wildlife that feeds on them. In mid-July through August, the trail leads you to the salmon run — a wall-to-wall spectacle of fish surging upstream that has to be seen to be believed.
*Silver Bay Scenic Overlook (10–15 min) Step out and breathe it all in. Silver Bay stretches before you — a glittering expanse of water framed by towering mountain peaks — one of Southeast Alaska's most spectacular views, and one most visitors never find on their own.
What makes us different? Most Sitka tours rush you from one spot to the next. Not here. We slow down, we hike the trail together, and we tailor every experience to your group — because no two Bumble tours are exactly alike. With skip-the-line private access at both the Fortress of the Bear and Alaska Raptor Center, a guided walk through the ancient Tongass rainforest, a jaw-dropping stop at Silver Bay overlook, and an optional multi-course locally-inspired meal ready when you are — this is Sitka the way it's meant to be experienced.
Private bookings welcome. Smaller shared groups available in our eco-friendly hybrid minivan. Customizable routes for private guests.
